In Memory of James Garner

In honor (or memory) of one of my favorite actors, James Garner, whose wife Lois Clark has been forced into the sisterhood of widows, today’s Musical Monday Memories are all about him.

First up there’s Maverick. The perfect cowboy/gambler.

Then, of course, there was the Rockford Files.

Mr. Garner also appeared in television show like, Eight Simple Rules, playing the part of the grandfather, after the death of John Ritter.

He also starred in several movies. I couldn’t find soundtracks for them. So, here are the trailers to a couple of my favorites. They might be your favorites too.

Support Your Local Sheriff, a western comedy? Fun movie, regardless of its category:

The “chick-flick” tear-jerking movie The Notebook:

Of course, my favorite, Murphy’s Romance:

Garner didn’t just make movies for us girls, he made guy movies too. Although, the fact it (and others) was a “guy” movie, didn’t mean us females couldn’t like enjoy them, and Mr. Garner in them. Movies like The Great Escape:

There are many tributes and clips of James Garner on YouTube. I just found a few of my favorites to share. Those of us who enjoyed his work, as well as those who worked with him, or interviewed him and his friends will miss him.

However, as we all know, the one who will miss him the most are his family and his wife, Lois Clark. My thoughts and prayers are with her as she begins this new journey of her life without her partner.

If you could offer one thought, or idea of comfort to Mrs. Garner what would it be?

What was the best thing anyone did for you following the death of your husband?

What was your favorite James Garner movie or television show?

If you, or a friend,  want ideas on dealing with widowhood,  I wrote a book, Beyond the Grief, A Widow’s Survival Guide.
