Relax, Read, Enjoy, a book review

Your favorite beverage, a snack by your side, and a book in your hand, what could be more relaxing? An afternoon (or day) spent curled up on the couch, in your favorite chair, or even in bed spent with a book is a wonderful way to pamper  yourself.

I recently read, ARMED AND OUTRAGEOUS, by Madison Johns. It was the perfect book for relaxing and forgetting. No thinking about the humongous list of “things” to do. No worrying about, well, about anything.

ARMED AND OUTRAGEOUS will have you laughing from the first page. It is a cozy mystery, however the mystery which links back to one decades old, takes a far backseat to the characters and their actions (there is a reason “outrageous” is in the title.)

One reviewer said, “this isn’t your grandmother’s mystery, but it might be your grandmother.” I don’t know about that, unless your grandma is a real-life Grandma Mazur, Agnes Barnes is not your grandma. Of course, you or your grandmother might strive to be Agnes.

The main characters, Agnes Barnes and her best friend and side kick, Eleanor Mason, are more reminiscent of Lucy and Ethel, if Lucy and Ethel had been in their seventies or above.

Agnes and Eleanor set about solving a disappearance, much to the chagrin of the law enforcement, causing mayhem and catastrophes in their wake.

ARMED AND OUTRAGEOUS is the perfect way to pamper yourself. It will make you laugh and giggle and brighten your day. Later, while dealing with the humdrum, daily living, you can recall specific scenes from the book and you’ll smile at the memory.

Take some time today to pamper yourself with a book. Read, relax, enjoy.
