When was the last time someone gave you flowers? Chances are it’s been awhile. Why not go out and get some for yourself.
Flowers brighten up everything, that’s why we have a riot of flowers in the spring and summer, to brighten up our lives after the long, dreary, cold, colorless days of winter. Flowers say “life.” Flowers are a salve to a wounded soul.
Even, now as autumn approaches, flowers surround pumpkins, and hay bales placed strategically for decoration. Why shouldn’t you have flowers in your house to brighten your day?
Not only do flowers brighten up our space and make us feel better just seeing them. Even those with the faintest aroma smother out the stink of our fears.
Whether or not your spouse was a flower-giver, you can give yourself the gift of flowers. My husband used to joke that if he ever brought flowers home I’d ask him what he’d done. That wasn’t exactly true. He did give me flowers a few times in our marriage, for special occasions. They weren’t an every-day occurence, and I might have questioned his motives if he’d shown up with flowers for no apparent reason.
Naw, he loved surprises, so flowers would have just been another one of his surprises.
He’s gone now though, so that avenue of obtaining flowers is gone. Doesn’t mean I can’t buy, or cut my own.
A couple of months ago I cut some sunflowers for the house. They were pretty. However, once cut, sunflowers do NOT last long.
Next, I bought a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store. Much better option. Those lasted almost month. Which means this afternoon when I go to town I will be buying some more flowers.
What about you?
When was the last time anyone gifted you with flowers?
Have you bought flowers for yourself in recent months?
Having flowers make us feel special and that’s the theme of this month, making ourselves feel special or like a queen. This post is also part of the Ultimate Blog challenge. Please check out some of the other bloggers. The subject matter is wide and varied.
