Everyday Rockstars

No matter where we are in life, we are all rock stars to someone.

Don’t believe me? Consider my young cousin J. J is confined to a wheelchair with cerebral palsy, and a host of other issues. I can’t spell some of them, and don’t remember all of them.

A couple of years ago I started calling him my rock star.

While visiting them he informed me he was growing his hair out so he could donate it to Locks of Love. His hair already reached his collar and his new nickname was born. Not just because he looked a little like a rock star, but because his actions made him a hero in my eyes and heroes are rock stars. He did something great with what he had available.

There are so many things he can’t do. Confined to a wheelchair, with limbs that don’t always respond to what he wants, his abilities are somewhat limited. However, he could grow his hair, even if others teased him. Donating his hair took time. Growing it out to the acceptable length isn’t an impulsive act.

To me he, growing his hair out made him a rock star. Today his hair is short again, but his willingness  to make the donation continues to make him my rock star.

Although we don’t all have a stage presence, and our reach is sometimes small, we are still rock stars to those who know us. Enjoy your rock star status. You might even get to have your picture taken with a celebrity star some day. MH14 Jared and 2 Outlaws

His actions remind me we are all rock stars in our way. We are all someone’s hero. We are all rock stars.

Rock star is an affirmation for all of us.

Who is a rock star in your life?

Do you ever think of yourself as a rock star?

Have you ever had your picture taken with a celebrity?
