The final Four of the Alphabetical Living Intentional series, W to Z

letter W

W-Wish.

How often do we make wishes? Remember wishing on the “pulley bone” of the turkey at the holidays? If you were lucky you got to do it at other times with the Sunday roasted Chicken. Wishes aren’t just for kids. Adults need to wish too.

Our wishes don’t need to be limited to reasonable, attainable items either. Let your mind soar, wish for more, much more than you think is possible. Ask your friends and yourself, “if money were no object what would you do, where would you go?”

At first it will be hard, everyone will want to be practical. But stay at it and soon you will find yourself dreaming and wishing. Will the wishes come true? Who’s to say. One advantage of having a dream, and saying it out loud it that it frees our minds to think beyond our current situation.

Remember to dream and dream big. Dream huge. Dream beyond the possible. A dream created Disneyland.

Letter X

eXclude negativity, yes, I know I had to use a creative spelling. But, you hear the X first, so that’s what I’m going with.

Most of us have negativity in our lives, from others, “you can’t do that.” From ourselves, “who do you think you are to try that?” From society, “women your age don’t do such things.”

Ha! Everyone is wrong. If you want to do it, whatever “it” is, you can. You may do it a little different, but that’s how you roll. Others are wrong, you can do “it.”

We are wrong too, at least when we tell ourselves we can’t do something. If we haven’t tried how do we know we can’t. The only way to succeed is to try and remember, there is success in the attempt.

Society is wrong. Just get online, chances are there is a woman somewhere, your age or older who is doing what you dream of. If she can accomplish the task, so can you. Don’t let society put you in a box of can’t.

letter Yy

Y – Yes to new adventures, new avenues, new chances

Adventures can be big or small. An around the world cruise or a dive into a different book genre. Doing something you’ve never done before is an adventure. Say yes and try something new. Do an activity a new way, look at an object from a different angle, try something you’ve never tried before.

letter Z

Z- Zany

Zany is amusingly unconventional, odd, or quirky or a person who is eccentric or erratic.

Now of course, no need to be erratic when working at an important task, your job, or driving for example. However, we can still include some zaniness in our lives from time to time. Color our hair, or a portion of our hair a non-natural color, green, pink, purple, blue, or several colors. We can wear mismatched socks, despite those “in the know” saying it is childish and we if we’re over a certain age we need to have matching socks.

Zany, that’s what that thought is. We all need a little zaniness in our lives. We can hide it from others (the socks aren’t usually seen) or we can broadcast our zaniness loud, it’s hard to miss green hair.

Take time to include some form of zaniness in your life on a regular basis.
