A Look Back, Preparing for the Second Quarter of the Year

Today is the last day of the first quarter of the year. Taxes are due next month, in two weeks actually. Now is a good time to look back at the last three months and do a progress check. Am I where I want to be at this point? Are you? Did you have any specific goals, resolutions, or plans for this year? Are you taking steps toward reaching those milestones?

At the beginning of the year, here, I did a post on resolutions, or lack more correctly my lack of them. I also shared my word for 2019 which is FORWARD. The goal is to move forward this year, experience new adventures, create a new, or different life, build a speaking business, all done by taking forward steps.

At first glance, it would appear no forward steps have been taken this year. After all, my weight hasn’t dropped, the house is the same, I’m not speaking, and my writing is at a standstill.

How much progress have you made? Do you feel like your life is at a standstill? Maybe, like me, you just need to look a little closer at your successes.

No, my weight hasn’t dropped much, I am a few pounds lighter. However, I am much healthier than I was in January, even to the point of walking all over the fairgrounds a couple of weeks ago. Healthier beats a weight drop. Moving forward with health.

The house and garage are still full of “stuff.”

Wait a minute, are they really? No, they aren’t, I can actually get the car in the garage and several boxes of “stuff” have left the house either to be given or thrown away. Steps forward have been taken.

I don’t have any speaking engagements, the book still isn’t available in print, and no articles have been written. Again, I’m not at a standstill. I did have one speaking engagement in January, more are sure to follow. The isn’t in print yet, which will be corrected this quarter, however, another book has been started. Which means FORWARD progress is being made.

While blogging on a regular basis still eludes me, there have been more posts after the last Ultimate Blog Challenge than before. Another small step FORWARD.

What steps will move me, or you, FORWARD? It will depend on what we are doing. Everyone has something different that helps propel them forward, for me it’s challenges. Since the death of my husband, there is no one to ask me how I’m doing on a regular basis I have found challenges a great motivation.

Here are the challenges I’m participating in as we head into the second quarter of the year:

First up for weight, from Grow Young Fitness is this thirty-day eating challenge. It should be called, “not eating challenge” since it is a list of foods not to be eating for thirty days:

Not sure how much this will help since I already don’t eat many of these foods. I’ll let you know at the end of the month.

Continued decluttering of the house and garage. No I don’t have a challenge for this, maybe I’ll find one in the next few days. If not, just keep moving forward and hauling stuff I don’t need or want out.

There also is not a challenge for increasing speaking engagements. However, there are a couple for blogging, the Ultimate Blog Challenge and the Blogging A to Z challenge, and I’ll be participating in both of them.

How to you track your progress through the year?

Do you track your progress?

How do you motivate yourself to move forward?

This is a great reminder to do a little check in. I chose words for my year too. It’s Trust for 2019. So far, so good! Thank you for this!
